3 tips on being Confidently Beautiful

 

Hey Diva,

The year 2020 has snatched us all by our edges....but that's ok! Each new day grants us another chance to fight back and prove just how strong we are in the face of adversity.

With that being said, I present to you several tips on remaining confidently beautiful. Especially during those time when you feel like you have no more fight left in you.

1. Own your shit! Stand up in it and be unapologetic. You owe yourself that much.

2. Forgive yourself for sometimes accepting less than you deserve. Many of us have done it, sometimes without even realizing it. The key is not making it a habit and to get to a point of never doing it again. 

3. Don't beat yourself up over mistakes...and don't allow others to do it either. Instead learn from those mistakes, accept the lesson and move on.

Hey Diva,

When I tell you that 2017 is off to a fantastic start, that is exactly what I mean! On February 25, 2017 I was thrilled to win the title of Miss World Elite Champion. The pageant took place in Columbia, SC and it was a grand affair. Delegates were judged in four different areas to include Personal Interview, Sportswear, Evening Gown and Personal Essay. In addition to the title, I also won best in Evening Gown and best in Sportswear!

Many of you already know I am no stranger to pageants. I enjoy the thrill of the competition and the beauty of the sport. Pageants have been instrumental in helping me to strengthen my communication skills and poise.

It took me awhile to get to this point, but now that I'm here...look out world! The truth is, I've fought long and hard to uncover my inner goddess...therefore, no force on this earth will cause me to lose her ever again!

It is my sincere hope that women everywhere will also be inspired to release their inner diva! Please don't waste precious time concerning yourself with what others think and feel about you. The truth is you will always be too much...or not enough of something so you will never please everyone. Instead, focus on pleasing yourself!

What I Wore: Full Figured Fashion Week Atlanta Casting 2016

Hey Diva,
So...this past weekend, I attended the Atlanta casting for Full Figured Fashion Week where I auditioned for a spot on the runway in New York city this summer! Now in it's seventh year, Full Figured Fashion Week is the HAUTEST fashion affair catering to the plus size industry.
Hundreds of plus models from all over the country audition every year for one of the coveted spots on the runway during Full Figured Fashion Week. Only a handful are chosen and this year, I decided to give it a shot!

For my audition, I wore a super cute but simple off the shoulder body suit and leather joggers by Asos. Both pieces fit me perfectly,  I am very pleased. The leather joggers are from the Asos Curve collection and I must say, they do hug my curves just right!

 

For my audition, I wanted a look that was chic and effortless. But it also had to be SIMPLE which is a hard concept for me to grasp sometimes. I will be the first to admit that I am "extra" and I usually go overboard! I don't mean to...I just can't help it sometimes, LOL!  Luckily for me, I now have real friends that pull me back in when I start to "go there".

Auditions for Full Figured Fashion Week will go on through the end of March and the producers will be traveling to various cities looking for the HAUTEST plus models. Just hope I make the cut.

My Favorite Makeup looks and Makeup Artists of 2015

Hey Diva,

So...here we are, at the end of another year! I sure hope yours was divine and full of purpose and bliss. This year, I thought it would be fun to countdown some of my personal faves of 2015 starting with my favorite makeup looks and my favorite makeup artists.

I love makeup, and when properly applied, it should elevate your overall appearance. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you should cover your natural beauty, but there's certainly nothing wrong with enhancing it.

Now, if you are not sure how to properly apply makeup...well, shame on you! Because with all the YouTube videos and tutorials floating around there really isn't an excuse in this day and age. Everyone should know how to do a basic face. Sorry diva, I'm just being honest. It took me awhile, but I learned how to give my self a pretty good "beat down" if I may toot my own horn. I don't always have access to a professional, so it helps to be able to DIY!

But if you simply can not...don't fret my dear. For there are tons of amazing makeup artists out here that can easily help you release your inner diva! Here are some of my personal favorites.

First up is my number one fave, Shalawn aka Beauty Architect. She was one of the first artists I worked with when I moved to Atlanta! She gave me all of my winning looks back when won the title of Ms. Georgia Plus America 2013. She also did my make-up when I competed for the national title.

Another of my personal faves is Alex Butler. Her work is astounding and although I've never been graced by her hands, I can tell she is a true professional all around!

Next up is  Fred 4 Face. I met him during the Heavenly Angels mentorship program presented by Dr. Heavenly of Married to Medicine earlier this year. He has an amazingly beautiful spirit and is uber talented.  He was on hand to share his expertise in the area of skincare and makeup artistry and I was thrilled to soak up every bit of knowledge he provided.

Finally on my list is an artist I've never met personally, however her work is undeniably beautiful. As a matter of fact, when I came across one of her photo's on Instagram, I thought she was a Barbie doll! I had to do a double take because she was just so gorgeous. Anyway, her name is Brittanie Evans and I will certainly be checking for more of her talent in the new year!

Avenue #Avebeyou Top 10 Photo Contest

Hey Diva,
So...I'm sure you have heard about the Avenue "selfie" photo contest. Just to recap, the Avenue announced a photo contest where they asked ladies to submit their most stylish looks wearing pieces from the Avenue and using the hashtag #avebeyou.

The prizes include a $500 gift card from Avenue, a trip to New York to attend an Avenue photo shoot and become an Avenue model for a day with accommodations in a grand hotel and a NYC night out on the town and the grand prize...drum-roll please...an all-inclusive 5 day/4 night vacation for two – including airfare and transportation! PLUS the grand prize winner will be awarded a 3 day/2 night trip with 1 guest to New York City to attend an Avenue photo shoot and become an Avenue model for a day with accommodations in a grand hotel and a NYC night out on the town!

The idea of a photo shoot for the brand sounds absolutely amazing and I just could not pass on this opportunity of a lifetime! So, I threw my hat into the ring with a selfie I took on my birthday this past summer in a sexy black sequin skirt from Avenue!

 

Each week for three weeks, the submission with the highest number of votes from the public was selected as the winner of a $100.00 Avenue gift card.

 

I was blessed and honored to be the week one winner, who would have guessed that a photo I took in my bathroom mirror for fun back in the summer would garner me this awesome reward!

My win, secured me a place in the top ten and I can't begin to tell you how excited I am. Voting on the top ten will continue until Sunday November 8, 2015. From there, the top 5 submissions with the highest number of votes will be named the final five.

From there, its up to a judges panel consisting of staff and models from Avenue to select the three winners. The excitement is definitely building, and three ladies will certainly have a life changing experience. I do pray one of them will be me!
