Hey Diva,

Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you have a little something special planned today...be it for yourself or with someone special! I am celebrating this day of love in an 80's inspired look by Spoiled Diva by CL Felder. Gosh, I feel like Pat Benatar mixed with a little Madonna!

Plus Model ChaKiva Latrell

I've stated numerous times that a girl can never go wrong with a sexy pencil skirt. This faux leather trimmed, brown and black animal print pencil skirt is by Spoiled Diva and can be found here. It is available in plus size!

I paired it with a hot pink, bow halter crop top also by Spoiled Diva. The halter top comes in tons of colors and should definitely be a staple in your wardrobe! Get it here, also available in plus size!

Toss on a distressed denim jacket...pop the collar, roll up the sleeves and BAM! Instant 80's glam. Fashion should be fun, so get out there and have a blast.

So, how did you celebrate this beautiful day of love? What did you wear?

Until next time,

The Avenue Love Your "Selfie" Photo Contest

The Aveneue Selfie Photo Contest

Hey Diva,

So... earlier this week, The Avenue announced an online photo contest and they asked the question, "What's your selfie worth"? The contest runs through the month of October and each week, all you need do is upload your best selfie according to the theme. This weeks theme is best weekend outfit.

Then, beg your friends and family to VOTE for you! Just a heads up, you'll probably have to beg over and over again because we all know how hard it is to get people to simply click a darn LIKE button. Ya'll know I'm telling the truth!

Anyway, my faithful friends already know I love the art of a good selfie ( and yes, it is an art). You must capture the correct lighting, angles, mood, depth of field...yadda, yadda, yadda!

You can find all the contest details here. Now remember, this is a selfie photo contest, so it's ok to
do-it-yourself. Finally a photo contest where selfies are ok!

...and if you don't mind, how about showing my entry some love, I'm rocking a black sequin skirt from The Avenue and a black feather trimmed lace top and obi belt by none other than Spoiled Diva by CL Felder...I just  love a contest that focuses on self love! Click here to vote.

Until next time.

The pencil skirt is one of my personal faves from Spoiled Diva by CL Felder. It comes in many colors and prints. You even have the option of adding a cute little black, faux leather rosette pin which is sold separately...get them here!

So diva...what's your fave weekend look?

Lady in red!

Cha'Kiva Latrell of Diary of a Spoiled Diva

Hey Diva,
There is just something about the color red, right? I don't know about you but it makes me feel all kinds of sexy! I wore this red gown a couple of weekends ago to a pageant that I hosted and it was met with rave reviews.

The gown, courtesy of one of my fave retailer's Macy's, is super slinky and has a beautiful fit. Fit is extremely important to me. I worked professionally in the corporate world as a technical designer for several major retailers and I know the difference that good fit makes in a garment.

Anyway, back to the main subject...me, and this super sexy red dress! I paired it with a tribal inspired gold metallic necklace and drop earrings accented with rhinestones and a matching cuff bracelet. My shoes are gold as well with rhinestone accent. After all, I was attending a pageant event where rhinestones reign supreme!

Until next time.

Winter in review

Hey Diva,
Well...the time has come to officially pack away those winter digs and make room for SPRING! I'll be honest, I'm going to miss winter because I absolutely adore winter clothing. The furs and leather, the layering, and super sexy capes were all a hit this season! Sigh...I'm sure going to miss it, but spring is sure to bring some beautiful fashion.

While we wait, here are my fave winter looks...in no particular order.

DIY Faux Fur Trimmed Cape

Hey Diva,
As you know, capes are super HAUTE right now and I just know you’ve seen them all over the runways! But did you know that you can make your own in several easy steps? I created this one without a sewing machine, and today, I will show you exactly how I did it!

Step 1. Start with about 1 yard of fleece or wool. Perhaps you have an old fleece blanket that you can use. Fold it in half length wise with the selvage edges together. Then, fold in half a second time. Cut a small half circle for the neckline. Do not cut too deep or the neckline will be too large! If you want, go ahead and round off the bottom edge.

Step 2. Open the cape and lay flat. Cut down the center front on one layer. If you want, you can create armholes on the front of your cape. Mark the position for your armholes and cut slits about 12" long through one layer. I trimmed my armholes with faux leather remnants! You can either hand stitch the faux leather to the cape or use a hot glue gun.

Step 3. I finished the neckline with a neck facing and the outer edge of the caps with black faux leather piping. Ladies, this is where your creativity kicks in. You can finish your edges however you choose...perhaps with fur trim, with pinking shears, or a simple hem. It's up to you, GET CREATIVE! Again, you can either hand sew your embellishments, hot glue gun them, or if you are savvy with a sewing machine...go for it!

For the final step, I embellished the neckline with faux fur and added a crown pin. Then, I added simple hook and eye closures at the center front to close it.

What do you think…easy right? I’d love to see your DIY cape designs, please share!

Until next time.
