Thrifted Winter Fashion - J.Jill Coat Dress

Spoiled Diva in J. Jill Coat Dress

Hey Diva,
So...this is it, my final winter post! And...I made it just under the spring buzzer with this super chic
J. Jill coat dress. I found it at a Goodwill in my neighborhood and...well the rest is history!

I'm in love with the burnt orange color, it's works so well with my skin-tone... and my new burgundy hair color. Certainly you noticed my hair, right? We'll talk more about that later.

I added a faux fur shawl and belt for what I call "Diva'ttude"! And...the thigh high leather boots are the icing on the cake!
So, who's ready for Spring? I say bring on the open toe sandals, maxi skirts and crop tops!

Until next time.

DIY - The Maxi Tee

Hey Diva,
I've been somewhat admiring this maxi tee trend so I decided to make my own from a long sleeve David Dart dress I thrifted last fall.
I simply cut off the sleeves and cut slits up to the waist area on both sides and there you have it!

I paired mine with white skinny jeans from Ashley Stewert but I've seen it worn all sorts of ways. One of my faves is with cut off denim shorts and motorcycle boots! Whichever way you choose to rock it, do it like a true DIVA!

I'd love to see your pics, please share with me.

Until next time,

Diva Dish: Derby Brunch Hatwalk

What I wore: Sequin floral print sheath dress - thrifted- Fashion Style Studio, Fuchsia Hat with floral fascinator designed and made by me

Hey Diva,
It was exactly a week ago today that I had the great honor of attending the Derby Brunch Hatwalk presented by T.R.I.P. (Travel. Rebuild. Inspire. Progress.) The Derby Brunch Hatwalk, held this year at the beautiful Villa Christina in Atlanta, GA, is a fundraising event that celebrates sisterly fellowship and brings Black women together from all walks of life to enjoy an afternoon of fashion and flair in the name of community service.

This Kentucky Derby-inspired event draws ladies from around the Atlanta metro area, as well as out-of town guests. Last year, radio personality and author Shirley Strawberry of the Steve Harvey Morning Show served as Celebrity Host. This year, it was yours truly! I had the opportunity to speak  about my platform as Ms. Georgia Plus America and I was the judge for the "Hat Walk-Off " competition.

The Derby Brunch Hatwalk raises funds for a not-for-profit organization called T.R.I.P. USA, which helps to rebuild and revitalize communities of color across the country. To learn more about T.R.I.P., please visit www.TRIPusa.org. Click here to see more photo's from this phenomenal event!

Diva Dish: Style Is She Fashion Event

What I wore: Printed Peplum Dress - thrifted - Fashion Style Studio, Black Peep Toe Pumps by Bebe - thrifted - Fashion Style Studio
Hey Diva
A couple of weeks ago, I attended the Style is She Fashion Face-Off and despite the cold and rainy weather, we had a great time! Chef Rob's Restaurant and Lounge located in Sandy Springs, GA was the backdrop for a fabulous afternoon of fashion, food, makeovers and networking.

During the course of the afternoon, guests enjoyed events such as the "Shoe Walk-Off", Battle of the Mixed Prints and a Mini Thrift Fashion Show, where yours truly was one of the featured models!

Hey Diva,
Just wanted to share one of  my FAVE outfits to date. Found this sweet, vintage "granny" dress at my local thrift store and figured I could spice it up to fit my personality! The dress was originally calf length before I shortened it. I added a few simple accessories, and voila'...pure Diva'ttude!

What do you think of this look, HAUTE or NOT?

Until next time.

Spoiled Diva Remix: Frumpy to Fierce

Hey Diva,
So…on my last thrifting excursion, I spied this floral print dress and decided to give it a home.

Now I know it has somewhat of a “granny” flavor to it, but I looked past that and saw its “diva potential”. I really like the mock turtleneck, padded shoulders and long sleeves which are some of my FAV design elements. It even has a matching belt which was unfortunately about 4" too small for my waist.

But with a simple snip snip here and a nip tuck there, I transformed this frumpy frock into something super HAUTE. I was even able to increase the length of the matching belt with the fabric that I cut out of the dress!
